Lounger Pajamas

do you have nick-names for your neighbors?

i have regaled you before with tales from my neighborhood(tales from the redneck hood) and we have nick-names for the folks we don't know, coast guard guy, dog people, etc.etc. it has recently come to my attention that our nick is the "pajama people"...becuase of my schedule two weeks on two weeks off, i don't rush off to work in the mornin, so we can be seen out in the yard in the mornin, in our pj's letting the dog out, lookin at stuff, planin yard work, whatever..........then we get dressed do the yard work or go to town or whatever, and again becuase of my schedule, i take a nap(good for me) anyway when i get up i put my pj's back on unless there is something for me to do or somewhere to go, i check the mail in my pj's(really kinda loungers) look at the yard , mess with the dog whatever.....anyway we are "the pajama people"......whats goin on in your neighborhood??

I live on a sort of remote gated road, and there aren't that many of us up here, but we all have nicknames.

First I should tell you what I named the road when we moved in: Wino Hill. Yep, I never saw so many wine bottles in recycle bins in my life. The neighborhood get-togethers all involve wine. Lots of it.

I felt immediately at home.

Now the homes' nicknames:

The first house on the road, and the last (ours) are sometimes referred to as "The Bookends." The first home is often referred to as "The Gatekeepers". We're sometimes called the "Top of the Hill." Some of the other distinctive home nicknames are "The Santa Fe House" "The Modern House" "The Party House" (no, that is NOT us!)

As for neighbors' nicknames:

We're the "Bird People".

One couple is "The Two Buck Chucks" (yep, they always show up with the cheap stuff!)

"The Kids" (used to be us, but then a younger couple moved in and made us feel old...)

"The Boys" (a gay couple who moved out recently, but used to get into some fights amongst themselves, but also with other neighbors - they created a huge scene over one neighbor's goat, that led to much gossip, humor, law enforcement - the best story at our neighborhood get-togethers, now that they're gone!)

"The Snobs" the couple that don't wave when they drive past.

"Mr. Oleander" for some reason he had a weird thing about the oleanders on the road. He used to harass me for not watering the ones at the top of the hill more, despite my refusal to do so. He'd hike up to our place and leave notes on my wind shield wipers - to remind me.

There are a few! Gotta love thy neighbor as thyself - but don't take down the fence!
